When denim became more popular as a fashion style

In the early days of denim, blue was there since the beginning. The original fabric was very dark (as it was unwashed), but over time with wearing and washing it slowly became lighter. Many decades later, when denim became more popular as a fashion style, more colors were added. While the color black for denim is nowadays heavily affected by the rock & roll feel, white denim on the other hand gives a more serene feeling. When jeans became mainstream and were allowed to be worn on almost any occasion, many colors were developed and added to the availability of them. This can be seen as a new starting point when it comes to color variations. Sometimes these colors were mixed and matched as well, which gave an eclectic look and feel.
