Blue forever and ever

There’s something magical about the color blue. Whether you take a look in nature at the sky, the sea, or flowers, blue is always there. It gives you a feeling of joy and calmness at the same time. The blue color is also known for its calming effect on your mind and even your body. Also when it comes to clothing, blue is one of many all-time favorites. A true winner. A color that can be mixed with so many other colors from the rainbow. And not to forget about the wide range of different blue colors in the end. You can easily say that there’s a blue variation for everyone. The blue palette goes from light to dark blue, and everything in between.

When denim became more popular as a fashion style

In the early days of denim, blue was there since the beginning. The original fabric was very dark (as it was unwashed), but over time with wearing and washing it slowly became lighter. Many decades later, when denim became more popular as a fashion style, more colors were added. While the color black for denim is nowadays heavily affected by the rock & roll feel, white denim on the other hand gives a more serene feeling. When jeans became mainstream and were allowed to be worn on almost any occasion, many colors were developed and added to the availability of them. Think of the 1970s and 1980s which were dominated when stonewashing entered the market and jeans were available with more blue with white mixed colors. An era that changed the denim industry forever. This can be seen as a new starting point when it comes to color variations. Also, bleached washes became the next thing where dark blue denim fabrics were bleached into almost white pairs of jeans and denim jackets. In the 1970s, typical seventies light-blue colored denim fabrics were made. Fabrics that were bright and fresh for that time. Two decades later, in the 1990s. Grey denim fabrics were making a big entrance into the urban scene. Same as the previously described black denim. Truly punk and rock-a-billy vibes! Also in the 1990s, bright colors of denim fabrics such as red, yellow, orange, green, you name it appeared in denim collections. Sometimes these colors were mixed and matched as well, which gave an eclectic look and feel. Green denim fabrics were already used for military clothing in the past but have been seen more often in regular collections of denim brands since the 1990s. Same as the use of different blue shades of denim fabric panels in jackets, and even pairs of jeans.

All the different denim fabric colors

Even nowadays, all kinds of denim fabrics are available. All the different colors of denim fabrics came along in the past. And every now and then a certain color makes a strong comeback. Like the light-colored ecru for example. Better known as Bull denim fabrics. Worn in jeans or a jacket, or as a full denim kit, as in a jeans and jacket in the same fabric structure, and same color. The do-it-yourself movement shows that many people create from old pairs of jeans, with different shades of blue, patchwork jeans. All kinds of colors and fabrics can be matched. There are no boundaries design-wise. Each of these are unique and outstanding.
